Welcome back to another edition of the Sunday Swing presented by 2nd Swing Golf. This week the PGA Tour played the 50th edition the Memorial Tournament at Jack’s place- Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio.
With Scottie Scheffler going for the three-peat this week and Rory McIlroy amongst other greats in the field, not a lot of people discussed J.T. Poston prior to this The Memorial teeing off. While Poston is a three-time winner on the PGA Tour, his last came two years ago at the Shriners Children’s Open. On top of that, Poston’s 2026 campaign has been lackluster to say the least. Prior to this week, Poston had managed just two top-25 finishes this season along with four missed cuts. All that being said, something clicked for J.T. this week- rounds of 70, 65, and 69 gave him a four-shot lead heading into the final round.
Sunday’s scoring conditions were much better than they were in the prior rounds, and there were plenty of players making moves up the leaderboard. Poston struggled on the opening nine, shooting a 1-over par 37. He then made a two more bogeys on 12 and 13, and his four shot margin had been erased. Birdies at 14 and 15 got him back in the thick of it, but as he arrived at the 72nd hole he found himself trailing Ryan Gerard by one. The 18th hole at Muirfield is always one of the most difficult every year, but Poston was able to hit the fairway, giving him an opportunity to go after the flag. A beautiful iron shot set up a birdie putt from inside 8-feet, which Poston holed to grab a share of the lead. Ryan Gerard was able to make his 5-foot par putt and the pair headed back to the 18th tee for a playoff.
After a couple of pars from the fairway on the first playoff hole, both players missed the fairway on their 2nd attempt. They were both able to get their 2nd shots onto the green from the thick rough, and each faced long birdie putts. Gerard played first, running his putt a good 5 and a half feet by. Poston also raced his birdie attempt past the hole, although he only faced about 3 and a half. Unlike in regulation, Gerard was unable to hole his par putt, leaving the stage clear for Poston to claim his 4th (and most significant) title.
J.T. Poston's Winning WITB
33-year-old Titleist staffer J.T. Poston claimed the biggest victory of his career on Sunday afternoon at Muirfield Village. Poston leaned on elite iron play and clutch putting this week on his way to victory. His bag is made up of primarily Titleist products (some new and some old) with a couple TaylorMade pieces mixed in.

Nelly Korda's U.S. Women's Open WITB

Nelly Korda continued her tear in women’s golf, as World No. 1 claimed her first U.S. Women's Open title at Riviera Country Club. The win made her the first American to win back-to-back majors since Juli Inkster in 1999, and it came at a historic venue — Riviera Country Club was hosting the major championship for the first time.
It was anything but a smooth week for Korda from the jump. She struggled on the tee and limped through the opening round at two over par, but a grip adjustment suggested by her sister helped her turn things around. She fired the low round of the day in round two with a 67 and then closed strong in Saturday’s 3rd round to head into Sunday tied for the lead.
The final round was a grind, with crosswinds making putting treacherous throughout the afternoon. It was the par-5 17th hole where Korda finally grabbed the outright lead as her 9-foot birdie helped her break out of a four-way tie atop the leaderboard. But the drama wasn't over. On the 18th, her two-and-a-half-foot par putt did a 180 around the cup, nearly lipping out for bogey and forcing a three-way playoff — before it finally fell to the bottom of the hole.
The win was Korda's fourth title of 2026, following a winless 2025 season. With the U.S. Women’s Open Title, Korda is now a four-time Major Champion, and has captured 3 of the 5 Women’s Majors, with the AIG Women’s Open and The Amundi Evian Championship the only two titles she has yet to claim, though she’ll have her chance later this summer.
