Who’s It For

Miura is without question best known for its various forged players irons, but that doesn’t mean there’s not a great forged option from Miura for mid- and high-handicap players as well. The Passing Point 9003 Straight Neck irons, which have between 50 and 70 percent less offset than the standard PP 9003 irons, will give golfers more forgiveness on mis-hits and naturally higher launch conditions than many other Miura irons thanks in large part to a wider sole design and extensive perimeter weighting. That enhanced playability, however, will not come at the expense of the craftsmanship, elegance, and feel that Miura is known for.

The Tech Story

Highlighting the performance of the Miura Passing Point 9003 Straight Neck irons is a low, deep CG placement that promotes stability at impact and a high but strong ball flight. Additionally, their forged cavity construction allowed designers to move weight to the perimeter of the clubhead to enable improved performance on shots played from the heel or toe. That said, with significantly less offset than the standard PP 9003 irons, the look of the “SN” model is likely to appeal to better players. Additionally, turf interaction has been been addressed through the use of a sole design that features optimal thickness and modified leading edges, with the result being solid contact on a more frequent basis. Also of note, high-density clubfaces promote a powerful feel at impact, as well as a strong, consistent ball flight, while precision forging using soft carbon steel also contributes to the soft feel at impact and crisp acoustics.
