Ping G410 Plus Driver
Who’s It For?
PING is attempting to reach as many golfers as possible with the new features installed in the G410 Plus driver while still exhibiting many of the excellent innovations from past PING drivers, such as the trademark turbulators on the crown that reduce drag. The G410 Plus offers customization that has never been seen before in a PING driver, which makes it a terrific choice for a wide range of swing speeds and playing styles. This driver is especially suited for players who do not have a consistent miss on the course and are searching for increased launch and forgiveness. However, for players who consistently find themselves missing due to an unwanted fade or block, the PING G410 SFT driver would also be worth a look.
The Tech Story
At address, the appearance of the PING G410 Plus doesn’t stray far from other recent PING driver releases, specifically the PING G400. The G410 Plus’s 455cc head is slightly larger than the 445cc head of the G400. However, the no-glare matte black finish with turbulators placed along the crown of the clubhead, which reduce drag by 40 percent in the downswing and 15 percent overall, provides an agile, yet smooth look on the G410 Plus just as it did with the G400. The most remarkable new feature in the PING G410 Plus is a movable, 16-gram tungsten weight that can be set to three different locations on the extreme boundary of the skirt. The three locations represent the desired draw, neutral and fade shot shapes and each setting represents 10 yards of ball flight correction either left or right. When the weight is adjusted, the CG location shifts a tenth of an inch without sacrificing the improved MOI, which is one percent higher at its neutral setting than the G400 model. As is the case with all PING drivers, a low and deep CG location delivers more distance and exceptional stability and feel at impact. Additionally, internal DragonFly Technology has been implemented to increase MOI and forgiveness by distributing weight savings from the ultra-thin crown throughout the rest of the clubhead. The Ti 9S+ forged clubface also returns with its unique heat-treatment process to create a thinner, hotter impact area that is precision machined for maximum flexing and higher ball speeds from impact points across the entire clubface. Lastly, golfers are also able to adjust loft and lie specifications through the new 8-lobe Trajectory Tuning system that is part of a lightweight, aerodynamic hosel sleeve.
