Titleist TS3 Fairway Wood

Who’s It For

While Titleist has had tremendous success with its fairway woods through the years, its R&D personnel believe the new TS3 fairway woods offer the strongest combination of speed, forgiveness, and customization of any fairways that Titleist has ever created. Given that description, for players who want the ability to adjust their fairway woods to achieve the exact ball flight, launch, and spin that they’re looking for, the TS3 fairways should prove to be a popular choice. For those, however, who are simply looking for maximum forgiveness and a high-launch, low-spin profile, the TS2 fairway woods will also warrant serious consideration.

The Tech Story

Titleist set out with its TS fairway woods, just as it did with the TS drivers, to create faster ball speeds and more distance for golfers of all ability levels, especially on off-center strikes. To accomplish that goal, both the TS2 and TS3 fairways feature a thinner clubface than their predecessors, which is producing faster ball speeds. Equally important, however, is a modified Active Recoil Channel that provides better ball speed protection on mis-hits. Additionally, a thinner crown construction, 30 percent thinner to be exact, allowed the weight that had been saved to be moved low and deep in the clubhead to dramatically increase MOI, which provides improved performance on low face strikes and shots played from the heel or toe. Specific to the TS3 fairways is a traditional shape that will promote both forgiveness and workability. However the key technology is Titleist’s SureFit CG, which is a weight cartridge that can be positioned in the clubhead to help golfers move the center of gravity to achieve their ideal launch, spin, trajectory, and shot shape. And only serving to enhance that customization is Titleist’s SureFit Hosel, which allows for independent loft and lie adjustment and 16 distinct settings to further help golfers create the exact trajectory and shot shape they want.
