Who’s It For?

The new Srixon ZX5 irons provide the combination of premium ball speed technology with exceptional forged feel through a compact yet workable clubhead shape. The ZX5 irons fall into the players-distance iron category and are aimed at giving golfers forgiveness where it counts, control where it’s needed, a soft forged feel, and explosive distance. This type of iron generally works best for golfers with a low- to mid-range handicap.

The Tech Story

The Srixon ZX5 irons contain several key technologies that drive its superb performance. MainFrame technology was created with human intelligence and perfected with Artificial Intelligence, consisting of a variable thickness pattern made up of grooves, channels, and cavities that is milled into the backside of each ZX5 face. The pattern maximizes COR for more ball speed and distance with each shot. Srixon’s trademark VT sole is also present on the ZX5 irons, which contains a V-shaped sole that glides smoothly through any kind of turf, regardless of how clean contact is. Additionally, the grooves throughout the set change slightly to optimize performance. Grooves in the 3-iron through 7-iron are wider, while the grooves for the 8-iron through pitching wedge have deeper and closer-set grooves to offer more control and to cut through materials more efficiently. Overall, the multi-piece construction of the ZX5 irons includes the high-density tungsten weighting in the heel and toe areas, a forged SUP10 clubface that enhances face flexing, and a forged 1020 carbon steel body that provides a soft feel.

Srixon Golf Irons Comparison: ZX5 vs. ZX7 | Trackman Test & Feedback

In this Srixon Golf Irons Comparison, 2nd Swing's Drew Mahowald and master fitter Thomas Campbell review and test the new Srixon ZX5 and ZX7 irons. The models both deliver terrific aesthetics and boast a lot of similarities. However, the differences between the Srixon ZX5 and Srixon ZX7 irons are distinct enough to show in testing. Nonetheless, this golf irons comparison shows that both the Srixon ZX5 and ZX7 irons would be great options in 2021 and beyond. The Srixon ZX5 and Srixon ZX7 irons will be in 2nd Swing stores beginning on January 15, 2021.
