Mizuno JPX 923 Forged Single Iron
Who’s It For?
New Mizuno irons are always exciting, especially when it’s a forged iron. For decades, Mizuno has been lauded for the superb feel in its forged irons. The JPX Forged model is consistently one of the best options on the market that pairs tremendous feel with explosive distance. The JPX 923 Forged includes more features in the build that deliver an even softer feel and more distance. The JPX 923 Forged irons fall into the players-distance iron category, primarily designed for golfers with a low-to-mid handicap or skilled golfers seeking a bit more distance in their irons than a players model.
The Tech Story
All forged Mizuno irons begin with the Grain Flow Forging process at Mizuno’s iconic facility in Japan. This process has consistently produced some of the softest feeling irons in golf. The JPX 923 Forged features the third generation of Mizuno’s Chromoly Forging in the 4-7 iron for higher ball speeds, while the 8-iron through wedge consist of 1025E Pure Select mild carbon for soft feel and control. Plus, a new V-Chassis enables a thinner topline and creates a dense, more satisfying feel at impact. Additional bevelling to the trailing edge delivers smooth turf interaction, while shorter blade lengths in the scoring irons allow for more control where it’s needed.
