TaylorMade’s new MG2 (Milled Grind 2) wedges give golfers a new level of precision and versatility from inside 150 yards. Apart from having a large amount of new technological features, the wedges also feature two different bounce options. The first option is a standard bounce sole, recommended for golfers with a neutral or steep attack angle on wedge shots. The standard bounce option is also ideal for golfers whose divots tend to be on the deeper side. However, golfers who don’t fit into these categories should take a long look at the low bounce sole. This option is optimal for those with a shallower attack angle who like to take shallow divots. No matter which bounce option you choose, the MG2 wedges look gorgeous both in the bag and at address.
The Tech Story
The TaylorMade MG2 wedges feature a number of technological innovations that help golfers improve their short games and save shots around the greens. First, the MG2 wedges, as their name suggests, sport a milled grind that maximizes the consistency of the wedge’s strike on chips, pitches, flops, and full shots by improving the clubhead’s interaction with the turf. The MG2 wedges also feature a TPU insert in the back cavity. The cavity is designed to improve feel by reducing the amount of vibration felt in the hands following impact. To help increase greenside spin, TaylorMade’s engineers designed the MG2’s ZTP RAW Grooves to be sharper and deeper than ever. Finally, the company did something unique with the clubface. The MG2 wedge clubfaces feature no plating on the clubface, and this raw face design gives golfers the chance to maximize both feel and spin in scoring yardages.
