The SuperSoft Magnas are slightly larger than most golf balls, which inherently creates lower spin and higher launch due to subtle differences in the center of gravity location. Callaway’s SuperSoft Magna golf balls are engineered for moderate to slow swing speed players searching for more forgiveness and higher launch. Players with a similar swing speed who are especially looking for more short game control may want to try the standard Callaway SuperSoft golf balls.

The Tech Story

The Callaway SuperSoft Magna golf balls are highlighted by their size, which is slightly larger (1.732 inches in diameter) than most standard golf balls (1.68 inches, which is also the USGA minimum). The larger size heightens center of gravity slightly, which increases the likelihood that the club’s center of gravity will be lower than the ball’s center of gravity at impact. This results in less backspin and more energy spent on moving the ball forward than spinning. Overall, this means both distance and accuracy are enhanced due to the slightly larger size. Additionally, as is the case in the standard SuperSoft golf balls, the HEX Aerodynamics dimple pattern has been updated to reduce drag as much as possible, further enhancing both distance and carry. Performance around the greens has been updated in the form of a new, softer, Tri-onomer cover that increases softness and wedge spin on all forms of short shots.
