Hideki Matsuyama captured another elite victory at the 2025 Hero World Challenge. Matsuyama finished with a closing 64 to match his playing partner Alex Noren before heading to a two-man playoff where he birdied the first hole to walk away with his 2nd Hero World Challenge victory. In the past 6 years, there have been only 3 winners of this exclusive event; Viktor Hovland, Scottie Scheffler and Hideki Matsuyama.

Driver: Srixon ZXi LS

Shaft: Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 TX

After years with the Srixon ZX5 Mk2, Hideki switched to the ZXi LS this season to prioritize lower spin and a slightly more compact, tour-oriented shape. The ZXi LS features a forward center of gravity that allows for a flat, penetrating ball flight and tighter dispersion, making it ideal for high-speed players who generate their own launch.

Fitting Insight:
Paired with the Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 TX shaft, this driver provides exceptional stability and spin control at elite swing speeds. Hideki plays this driver with the front weight and back weight the same. Usually, we will utilize this if a player’s spin deviates too far one way or another when we are utilizing the adjustable weight system. He has a slither of lead type on the back heel portion of his driver, which is being used to give his big stick a slight draw bias to it.

Fairway Woods: TaylorMade Qi10 (3-Wood), COBRA RadSpeed Tour (5-Wood)

Shafts: Graphite Design Tour AD DI 9 TX (3-Wood), Graphite Design Tour AD DI 10 TX (5-Wood)

The Qi10 3-wood is designed for high ball speed and clean launch from both tee and turf. Hideki uses this club as a true scoring weapon into par fives and a controlled tee option on tighter driving holes. It has been an extremely popular option on tour even with last year’s model. Players are trusting the Qi10 fairway line more than line of fairways we have seen in a good few years on Tour.

Fitting Insight:
The heavier Tour AD DI 9 TX shaft keeps the club stable through Hideki’s powerful transition. It prevents the face from closing too quickly while maintaining a consistent launch and spin window. This combination fits stronger players who want their 3-wood to behave more like a precision club than a distance-only club.

Hideki’s 5-wood is built for towering approach shots that land softly on firm greens. By adjusting the loft up to 19 degrees, he gains additional peak height and a steeper descent angle without sacrificing distance. It was one of the best fairway metals made in the last 10 years and is still trusted at highest level of the game.

Fitting Insight:

The Tour AD DI 10 TX is a heavy, extremely tip-stiff shaft that keeps this higher-lofted club from feeling loose or overactive. It allows Hideki to swing aggressively without adding excess spin or curvature. This type of setup is ideal for players who need stopping power into greens but still swing with tour-level speed.

Irons: Srixon Z-Forged II (4-9)

Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400

The Srixon Z-Forged II irons are true muscle-back blades built for ultimate feedback, face control, and shot shaping. Hideki relies on these irons for their ability to precisely control trajectory, curvature, and spin in all conditions. This is the second win for the Srixon Z-Forged 2 in two weeks, with David Puig winning in Australia as well.

Fitting Insight:
The Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts are heavier and slightly stiffer than standard stiff shafts, making them ideal for Hideki’s steep angle of attack and high compression strike. It is a testament to what we talk about in our fittings, club head speed does not always dictate the correct shaft for your game. Shafts in different flex categories may work better for your pattern than just what club head speed dictates.

Wedges: Cleveland RTX 4 Forged Prototype (52, 56, 60 Degrees)

Hideki’s Scotty Cameron GSS putter is one of the rarest and most sought-after materials in golf. German Stainless Steel provides an exceptionally soft yet solid feel, with extremely pure sound feedback at impact.

Fitting Insight:
This putter matches a minimal face-rotation stroke and a preference for quiet, muted impact sound. For someone who does not have a aim bias with their putter and has a smooth, natural stroke a classic bladed style Newport is a great option for ultimate feel on the greens.

Golf Ball: Srixon Z-Star XV
