The Vokey Design SM10: Titleist's most versatile wedge yet

January 30, 2024

How do you improve the most popular wedge in golf? The answer is simple, leave it up to Bob Vokey. The Master Craftsman has engineered Titleist’s most versatile wedges yet with the new Vokey Design SM10 wedges.

Vokey’s three keys to great wedge play are: shot versatility, exceptional control, and maximum spin. The SM10 represents the epitome of that belief from their construction, shape and profile.

With six different sole grinds (F, S, M, K, T and D) there are a total of 25 unique loft, bounce and grind combinations among the SM10 family, providing every golfer an ideal wedge for their game, no matter the swing, the shot nor the course condition.

As a player transitions from their irons into their wedges, some common issues can happen. First the feel of the club at impact can be quite different, and there can also be a distance gap in a player’s bag as they make that transition from iron into wedge. The SM10 has addressed that issue with new progressive center of gravity placements. The CG is lower and pushed closer to the center in the 46-52 degree wedges, providing more feel and eliminating excessive draw movement. In the 54-62 degree wedges, the CG is moved up and forward, which creates a lower trajectory and squarer face at impact. All of this progressive CG placement does, is it allows for more consistent, controlled flight, better feel and tighter dispersion throughout a player’s wedge setup.

Spin is the final component of Vokey’s keys to wedges, and the SM10 delivers with its patented Spin Milled process, which has delivered higher and more consistent spin thanks to its TX9 grooves, which are cut individually based on loft and finish. Stronger-lofted wedges feature narrower and deeper grooves, while the higher or weaker-lofted wedges feature wider and shallower grooves. All of this is done to give you a more consistent wedge game, and allow you to increase stopping power on the greens and give yourself more makeable looks at birdie.

All of the performance you expect from a Vokey Design wedge is present in the SM10, and now it comes in three stock finishes: Tour Chrome, Jet Black and the new Nickel finish, which looks as if Titleist has blended the Tour Chrome and Jet Black finishes together. The SM10 is also available in a Raw finish, which can be custom ordered.

2nd Swing fittings for the new Vokey SM10 wedges will begin February 15. Schedule your award-winning club fitting here: https://fitting.2ndswing.info/schedule-now/
