Who’s It For?

Since its initial rollout in 2017, Callaway’s Epic line has set new standards for distance and forgiveness, especially in the metal wood department. Over the past several years, the company has refused to rest on its laurels and has continued to invest in A.I. technology to further increase the Epic’s performance. Callaway’s new 2021 Epic Fairway Woods are their fastest and most forgiving fairway woods ever. The Epic Max’s adjustable, oversized head shape generates higher-launching shots with mid-to-high spin numbers, while the Epic Speed produces a mid-flight trajectory with low-to-mid spin numbers.

The Tech Story

Callaway’s Jailbreak technology was one of the industry’s most innovative features in recent years, but this year, Jailbreak has been reimagined to help golfers play even better. Using artificial intelligence, Callaway’s engineers equipped the Epic Max with brand new Jailbreak A.I. Velocity Blades. The blades stiffen the club’s body, improving stability in both horizontal and torsional directions. This allows the clubface to “twist” at impact to increase the performance of off-center strikes. The fairway woods also feature a new A.I. Designed Flash Face SS21 clubface, which is uniquely designed to generate high ball speeds all across the face. Due to its oversized head shape, shallow face, and low leading edge, Callaway’s Epic Max makes it easy to launch the ball high and optimize distance numbers. Finally, the Epic Max boasts two adjustable weights that give golfers more flexibility in terms of altering launch and spin conditions.
