Honma TW XP-1 Fairway Wood
Who’s It For?
Honma is expanding its T//World series of products and stepping further into the game-improvement category with the XP-1 series of drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, and irons. In terms of the XP-1 fairway woods specifically, the name of the game for Honma is flexing, whether it’s the clubface or the Double Slot sole. The lightweight design of the XP-1 fairway woods is a great match for mid- to high-handicap golfers or golfers with medium swing speeds.
The Tech Story
The T//World XP-1 fairway woods are highlighted by a number of game-improvement technologies that are geared toward improving launch, distance, and forgiveness. These fairway woods include Double Slot Sole technology, which consists of a narrow slot in the middle of a larger slot that runs nearly parallel to and just behind the leading edge. This slot increases flexing, as the clubface and the slot flex at impact, resulting in higher ball speeds and more forgiveness. Additionally, the Double Slot allows for more flexing on the heel and toe side of the clubhead to decrease side spin. Meanwhile, an ultralight carbon crown in the 3-wood and a thin steel crown in the 5-wood and 7-wood lower the center of gravity for a higher flight. Additionally, the XP-1 fairway woods are constructed with built-in draw bias to help golfers square the clubface at impact and eliminate the fade or slice miss.
