Mizuno ST190 Tour Spoon Fairway Wood
Who’s It For?
Mizuno, while known mostly for its production of Tour performance irons, has constructed one of the fastest fairway wood series on the market with its release of the ST190 fairway woods. Weight redistribution and a high-energy HT1770 Maraging steel face produce excellent ball speeds with low spin. The ST190 Tour Spoon comes with an adjustable hosel that can alter the loft and change launch angle, offering customization and enhanced ball speed to golfers of all skill levels and swing speeds.
The Tech Story
Several innovations have been included in the ST190 Tour Spoon fairway wood to deliver impressive ball speed while maintaining low spin. The high-energy HT1770 Maraging steel club face is deeper and flexes like a driver at impact helping to maximize ball speed. The ultra-lightweight carbon composite crown allows four grams of weight to be moved lower in the clubhead for a lower-spinning flight. On the sole is the Amplified Wave plate, consisting of a large first slot, or “wave,” running near and parallel to the leading edge with several smaller waves behind it. This increases stability and area of the sweet spot for excellent forgiveness across the entire impact zone. Similar to the way it acts as an internal set of ribs in the ST190 drivers, Harmonic Impact Technology is also present in the ST190 Tour Spoon fairway wood to provide a powerful, solid sound and feel. The ST190 Tour Spoon includes an adjustable hosel that can be configured to change the loft anywhere from 13 to 17 degrees.

Quotable
“The ST190’s deeper face is not just useful from the tee -- it also gives the clubface a larger frame that functions more like a driver for higher ball speed. Normally that is comprised of a higher sweet spot and additional backspin, but by using our carbon composite crown and Wave Soleplate, we were able to combine high ball speeds with an efficient ball flight.” -- Kei Tsjui, Mizuno Lead Golf Designer
