Callaway’s new Epic Forged irons are built with premium materials and include the best characteristics of a players distance iron and a game improvement iron. The result is an iron set that packs a major punch, resulting in extreme distance and high launch. The Epic Forged irons are constructed from the same materials as many forged players irons to provide exceptional feel and appeal to better ball strikers, while the game-improvement shape will appeal to mid- to high-handicap golfers searching for added distance.
The Tech Story
The Epic Forged Irons from Callaway are designed to offer players irons feel with extreme distance and forgiveness. To get the feel of a players iron, Callaway constructed the Epic Forged irons with a forged 1025 carbon steel body, similar to the construction of the Apex 19 irons. Callaway also implemented its patented urethane microspheres inside the clubhead to absorb unwanted vibrations, improving both sound and feel on shots struck all over the clubface. For high ball speeds, Callaway included its 360 Face Cup, which consists of a flexible rim around the perimeter of the face that flexes and releases at impact. Meanwhile, this is the first forged iron to include Suspended Tungsten Core technology, which suspends the custom tungsten weight using the urethane microspheres so that the center of gravity can be positioned in the correct location for ideal launch. Callaway also implemented a progressive VFT pattern in the mid and long irons to help with control and spin on the longer shots.
