Miura MC-501 Iron Set
Who’s It For
At first glance, it would be easy for any golfer to assume that the Miura MC-501 irons were created only for the game’s most talented ball-strikers. But that’s not the case at all. Certainly with their forged construction, traditional shape, minimal offset, and thin toplines, the MC-501 irons will appeal to better players, but there’s enough playability built into the design, most notably high launch and forgiveness, that this is an iron that could be played by a mid-handicapper who places a premium on look and feel.
The Tech Story
The “MC” in the name MC-501 stands for muscle-cavity, which is the perfect way to describe this new iron from Miura. And as one might expect from that name, the MC-501 will offer the precision and feel of a true muscleback iron but with the higher launch conditions and added forgiveness that cavity back irons provide. To achieve that added playability in such an elegant package, 20 grams of internal weight has been positioned in the clubhead and sole to lower the CG, which equates to higher launch and improved stability at impact. Additionally, wider soles and longer blade lengths inspire confidence at address and give players a larger sweet spot and more consistent results on mis-hits. That said, these irons have still been precision forged from ultrasoft S25C carbon steel to provide the unique solid feel of a blade, and the “Y” Grind featured in the sole of these irons enables players to work the ball more easily and enjoy exceptional turf interaction.
