The Tech Story

As is the case with nearly every model in the Mizuno MP line, the MP-20 MMC irons are highlighted by the patented Grain Flow Forging process from a single billet of 1025E mild carbon steel, a process that produces superb feel. Enhancing the feel even further is the soft copper plating layer placed on top of the carbon steel. Mizuno recently conducted blind testing with tour professionals to compare models with and without the soft copper layer, and the model that included the copper layer was universally preferred. The MP-20 MMC irons also include progressive Titanium muscle plates and tungsten sole weighting, each of which is more prominent in the longer irons and reduced in the shorter irons. Additionally, after receiving feedback from tour professionals, Mizuno reduced the topline by 0.3mm in the longer irons and 0.4mm in the shorter irons compared to the MP-18 MMC model. This change adds workability and precision for players that like to control their trajectory and shape shots.
