Who’s It For

Goal No. 1 for Tour Edge engineers when developing the new Exotics EXS irons was to create as much distance as they possibly could. And, yes, these irons are long. But they’re also very forgiving and offer a naturally high ball flight, which should make them popular with mid- and high-handicap golfers. That said, given all of the game-improvement attributes that the EXS irons offer, they also feature a fairly thin topline, marginal offset, and a classic look at address, which might also entice some lower-handicappers to give these irons a look.

The Tech Story

As mentioned above, the Exotics EXS irons shine from a distance standpoint, and that distance is produced in several ways. First, a hollow body design in the long irons and an undercut design in the short irons both utilize a thin, high-strength clubface and a forged Cup Face to produce faster ball speeds out of the center of the face. Additionally, a new variable face thickness pattern that Tour Edge is calling Spiderweb Technology, along with the use of 19-gram tungsten toe weights, expands the sweet spot to maintain ball speed on off-center strikes. Additionally, discretionary weight has been moved to the perimeter of the clubhead to further promote accuracy on mis-hits, while a new Ramped Sole helps players maintain maximum clubhead speed through the turf. Also unique is the LaunchPad Technology that has been utilized to optimize launch in the short irons, as TPE polymer has been positioned behind the clubface to create additional flex at impact while also absorbing unwanted vibrations.
