Who’s It For

A growing trend among professional golfers and more talented amateurs is the use of utility clubs. Why, you ask? First, the straight face of a utility club allows players to shape shots and control trajectory more easily than they can with a hybrid. And second, utility clubs provide more ball speed and naturally higher launch conditions than a traditional long iron. If that playability combination sounds appealing to you, the Cobra KING Utility Black is one of the best options on the market. Additionally, and not surprisingly given its success with One Length irons, Cobra is also offering the KING Utility Black in a one-length version to help those who are playing One Length irons better match their sets. Each of the Utility Black models being offered will be the length of a standard 7-iron, which for Cobra is 37.5 inches, with the idea being that players will be able to achieve improved consistency by utilizing the same swing and setup position with each club in the bag.

The Tech Story

There’s a lot going on from a technology standpoint that’s contributing to impressive performance when it comes to the Cobra KING Utility Black One Length iron. The fully hollow design enables a thinner, unsupported clubface that increases ball speed and also helps lower the CG position to provide improved launch conditions. The clubface is constructed using high-strength 455 stainless steel, which also contributes to faster ball speeds, while PWRSHELL Face Technology expands the sweet spot of the KING Utility Black’s clubface to provide more consistent distance results on off-center strikes. The grooves have also been 100 percent CNC milled, which will give players consistent spin rates, which is a key to consistent distance. Also of note, high-density tungsten has been positioned in the toe of the clubhead, which helps lower and center the CG position to enhance stability at impact and help produce higher launch. The KING Utility Black One Length is also unique in that it offers a loft sleeve that gives players the ability to adjust loft by +/-1.5 degree to achieve their preferred ball flight and distances. And last but not least, the KING Utility Black One Length models will feature COBRA CONNECT, which allows players to track statistics during their rounds to better identify strengths and weaknesses.
