The Tech Story

The Ping iDi Utility Iron is a meticulously engineered club, offering distinct performance profiles across its three standard lofts: the 2-iron delivers low launch and spin as a traditional driving iron, the 3-iron provides mid launch and spin for versatile use as a driving or long-iron replacement, and the 4-iron boasts higher launch and more spin, making it ideal for holding greens. Its 17-4 stainless steel head, deeper front-to-back yet shallower, achieves a 15% higher MOI on high/low impacts, significantly enhancing forgiveness. This design also creates space for the innovative inR-Air technology, a small pocket of air within the clubhead that effectively damps sound and refines feel. Further contributing to a superior feel, a covered cavity and i-Beam structure actively reduce unwanted vibrations, while an aesthetically pleasing, chrome-plated ABS badge further enhances sound and feel. The iDi's compact heel-to-toe dimension and reduced offset make it easier to "turn over" for shot shaping. For precision control, each iDi is approximately 1/4" shorter and 1° flatter than standard, and the fixed hosel accommodates all 10 PING Color Codes for lie angle customization. Power and Retro spec lofts are also available alongside the standard 17°, 20°, and 23° options, providing extensive fitting versatility.
