The new TaylorMade SIM DHY utility iron is designed to be an excellent transition club between the fairway woods and irons in golf bags. The SIM DHY is designed to hit from virtually any condition or any lie, whether it be off the tee, from the fairway, from thick rough, or any other lie the course might throw at players. Golfers looking for a bit of higher launch and forgiveness from a utility club will like the SIM DHY. Players searching for workability and a lower launch in a smaller clubhead will prefer the SIM UDI.
The Tech Story
The SIM DHY features a larger clubhead shape that is built for versatility and includes a thicker topline and a wider, yet playable sole from any conditions. SpeedFoam Technology, which is implemented into the P770 and P790 irons, among other TaylorMade products, is also in the SIM UDI. It consists of an ultra-light urethane foam inside the clubhead that is designed to increase ball speeds while also improving feel. The larger hollow-body construction delivers a clean appearance and allows for a low and back center of gravity location, which promotes forgiveness and a high launch. The clubface is ultra-thin and forged from C300 steel, a strong material that delivers explosive distance. Meanwhile, Inverted Cone Technology increases the sweet spot area for better performance on center contact and when the center is missed.
