It has been a disappointing few months of golf for Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry. Each has come close numerous times to hoisting a trophy throughout the 2024 season, but they've been unable to close the deal. Prior to this week, McIlroy had not won on the PGA Tour in nearly a year (which is a significant drought for him) while Lowry had not won since the 2019 Open Championship. However, the Irish duo teamed up to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans this weekend in come-from-behind fashion, making clutch birdies during the final round to get the job done.

Below is a look at the clubs McIlroy and Lowry have in the bag. Of note, McIlroy is on staff with TaylorMade, while Lowry is a member of Cleveland and Srixon's pro staff.

DRIVERS: TAYLORMADE QI10 (McIlroy) and SRIXON ZX5 MK II (Lowry)

It's worth noting that both McIlroy and Lowry have opted for more forgiving driver models in 2024 than low-spinning offerings from TaylorMade or Srixon. McIlroy is just one of a littany of TaylorMade staffers opting for the Qi10 vs the Qi10 LS model, hinting at some low-spinning performance that could also be found with the standard Qi10 model. Lowry, meanwhile, uses the Srixon ZX5 MK II model instead of either the ZX7 MK II or the ZX5 MK II LS model, both of which would deliver a lower-spinning ball flight. Goes to show how much these players value control and consistency off the tee.

FAIRWAY WOODS: TAYLORMADE QI10 (McIlroy) and TAYLORMADE STEALTH PLUS (Lowry)

In the fairway wood department, we have different setups. McIlroy used two fairway woods this week, both the TaylorMade Qi10 standard model. He used a 15-degree 3-wood and an 18-degree 5-wood, which allows him to attack longer par 5 holes more efficiently and stop the ball easier on the green. Lowry, meanwhile, used just one fairway wood, a TaylorMade Stealth Plus 5-wood. Clearly, both McIlroy and Lowry thought the course set up nicely for 5-woods in their bags.

IRONS: TAYLORMADE PROTOS (McIlroy) and SRIXON ZX MK II COMBO (Lowry)

McIlroy is routinely known as one of the best iron players every year. While the 2024 season hasn't been his best, he's still gaining strokes on approach shots for the year and is in the top 20 in approach shots from 150 to 175 yards. His iron set from TaylorMade is made up of prototypes built specifically for the Rory McIlroy swing and are not available to the public. Lowry, meanwhile, is statistically one of the best approach players in the world. He's No. 3 in strokes gained on approach shots this season. He uses a combo of Srixon irons: a ZX Utility 3-iron, ZX5 MK II 4-iron and 5-iron, and ZX7 MK II irons for the rest of the set.

WEDGES: TAYLORMADE MILLED GRIND 4, VOKEY WEDGEWORKS (McIlroy) and CLEVELAND RTX 6 ZIPCORE, RTX FULL FACE (Lowry)

McIlroy and Lowry are like many tour pros whose wedge sets include different models in the makeup. And most of the time, the unique wedge in the set is the highest-lofted one. For McIlroy, he plays the TaylorMade Milled Grind 4 wedges at 46 degrees (essentially a pitching wedge), 50 degrees, and 54 degrees. He tops it off with a Titleist Vokey WedgeWorks custom wedge at 59 degrees. Lowry uses Cleveland RTX ZipCore Tour Rack wedges at 50 and 54 degrees paired with a Cleveland RTX Full Face wedge at 58 degrees.

PUTTER: TAYLORMADE SPIDER TOUR (McIlroy and Lowry)

Both McIlroy and Lowry, while on staff with different brands, use putters from the same putter family. And it worked for them in New Orleans. McIlroy opts for the TaylorMade Spider Tour X3, while Lowry opts for the TaylorMade Spider Tour Z. Each is designed for superb forgiveness and consistency using TaylorMade's patented high-MOI Spider technologies. Mallets are becoming more and more popular on tour -- Scottie Scheffler has also used a TaylorMade Spider Tour model to win four events in the last couple of months.
