This driver specifically targets players, often those with higher swing speeds, who need to reduce excessive spin to maximize distance. Its design achieves this by positioning the center of gravity (CG) extremely low and slightly forward compared to the standard G driver, while also maximizing the Moment of Inertia (MOI) through the use of an ultra-thin crown inspired by Dragonfly Technology.
The Tech Story
The Ping 2016 G LS Tec Driver is built around a complex system of innovations focused on reducing spin without sacrificing forgiveness. Central to its architecture is Dragonfly Technology, which removes eight grams of weight from the Ti 8-1-1 crown to allow for the precise placement of an Extreme Low and slightly Forward Center of Gravity (CG); this specific CG location is engineered to produce the desired low-spin flight characteristics while simultaneously boosting Moment of Inertia (MOI) for maximum forgiveness. Furthermore, the driver enhances clubhead speed through advanced aerodynamics, utilizing Crown Turbulators and Vortec Technology to effectively reduce air drag and turbulent wake during the swing, thereby increasing ball velocity and overall distance. This performance is amplified by the Variable-Thickness T9S Face, which, thanks to its high strength-to-weight ratio, is thin and light, promoting faster ball speeds and enabling the low-back CG positioning. Finally, a Simple Adjustability hosel sleeve allows players to optimize their specific launch conditions with up to +/- 1° of loft adjustment./span>
